James's Barkwell's Story:

James is a male, neutered, 5 year old Black & White Saluki mix, living in Arlington, VA and is looking for a new home.
He has lived with a smaller dog, but can be intimidated by some larger dogs. James is crate-trained, and  loves his crate! He is reliably house-trained and will make someone a wonderful pet.

INFORMATION FROM OWNERS:
He is loyal to his friends and family, and protective towards strangers. He is very cuddly.

When we have a party at home with people who are strangers to him, he understands quickly that they have been invited by us, and is relaxed and friendly around them.

When he meets strangers briefly in the street, he may try to nip them if they get too close.

Unfortunately, we have to give him up. The dog park in our apartment complex has a low fence. A visitor walked up to the fence and leaned over. James started barking.  The visitor did not retreat, and James bit her lightly. Our apartment complex has ordered our dog to leave by September 14th.

James would be best in a home with a large yard and a high fence. He needs regular exercise.

He likes small playful dogs, and is friendly with them.  He does not like large dogs.  As a puppy, he played with large dogs who would sometimes bully him. Now if he thinks a dog could physically challenge him, he tries to chase that dog away.

All vaccinations are up to date and he is apparently very healthy.
