The Elektra Salukis As of late November, 2006, all of our Elektra rescues are adopted or have adoptions pending, and all should be in their loving forever homes by the 2006 holiday season! We still have a large pile-up of veterinary expenses we are trying to make up due to this massive undertaking. Please email us at stola@gazehound.com or stolarescue@earthlink.net if you would like more information on how you can help or visit our support page for a variety of ways to contribute. |

Name: Hilal
Case #: 262 E
Type: Rescue
In: Feb 2008
Statistics: Male, under 3 years old
Hilal was turned over to Animal Friends League of Kuwait in early Feb. Animal Friends League of Kuwait flew him to the states so STOLA could help find him a loving forever home.
Hilal is such a lovable boy, he enjoys playing outside, but it seems one of his favorite things is getting attention from his foster parents.
We do not know if Hilal is cat safe, he is currently in a foster home with Italian Greyhounds. He has done pretty well with the IG's, but he still needs to be supervised when with them at all times. Hilal's fosters continue to work with him to help him get used to being around smaller dogs.
We feel Hilal will do best in a home with one, or more dogs close to his size.
It appears Hilal has been abused because certain things like brooms and mops seem to really frighten him.
Hilal is currently being fostered on the East Coast.

Name: Tyler
Case #: 265 M
Type: Cooperative Placement with Texas IG Rescue
In: March 2008
Statistics: Male, puppy, approx. 5 months at listing
Tyler is small dog safe, used to other large dogs including Sighthounds. He has not been around cats, but as a puppy, that is less of an issue. His foster human says:
Tyler is growing up very well rounded. He is loving, playful, and sometimes a toot. He has not met a toy he did not love. He selected a favorite chair in the bedroom, he likes to pose in for pictures and hugs. He also likes to chase his tail for fun, and is a talker, with a deep baritone voice, bigger than he is. All in all, a great, sweet, loving, handsome puppy boy. Cooperative Placement Contact and Regional Coordinator:

Name: Suki/Hailey
Case #: 153 M
Type: Rescue
In: April 2008
Statistics: Black and tan/tri, approximately 8-10 months old, female, feathered
She gets along well with other dogs, loves people and is affectionate. Not house trained (urination only) and is quite vocal when she does not get the attention she thinks she deserves. Small dogs and cats should not be a problem because of her age as she can be raised with them. She will require a lot of patience and gentle positive training and will blossom in the right environment. Should be ready for adoption about mid-May. Located in North Texas.

Name: Najat
Case #: 261 E
Type: Rescue
In: Jan 2008
Statistics: Female, silver grizzle, approx. 1 year old
Najat was found in Kuwait by the Military. Najat's rescuers knew she had recently had puppies, but none of them were found.
The wonderful team from Animal Friends League of Kuwait took care of her immediate medical needs, and then flew Najat to the states so STOLA could place her in a terrific forever home.
Najat seems to really enjoy playing with other Salukis, and getting loads of love & attention from her foster mom. We do not know if Najat is cat safe, or small animal safe.
Najat is currently being fostered on the East Coast.

Tyson (205 W)
Type: Owner Assist
In: November 2008
Statistics: Feathered Tri, Male (neutered), 8 years old
Tyson was returned to STOLA recently due to a family hardship in his previous home. He is a very quiet boy who just soaks up attention. He is good with other dogs, but we are hoping to find him a home where he will either be an only dog or have one other companion so he will have ample opportunity to spend one-on-one time with a new guardian or family. He is a true couch potato and spends most of his time indoors on the cozy couch.
Status: Adopted Dec. 2008
